The Story of Per and Lilly (née Christensen) Falkenberg-Andersen
After 22 years on the farm it was time for Per and Lilly to retire. But the farm would not stay in the family. Both of their sons were medical doctors, one in Canada, the other in Denmark, not farmers. It would have to be sold.
They didn't want to subdivide and keep the farmstead. The new owner would need a viable unit of land. Thinking ahead, they decided Calgary would be a good place to live in their final years––close to doctors and hospitals.
In Calgary, Per and Lilly started attending the Danish Lutheran Church right away and made many new friends. They also joined the Danish Canadian Club of Calgary and the Danish Canadian National Museum Society.
Per and Lilly's story of love and adventure began in Grade One, with these words: Kære Lilly jeg elsker dig (Dear Lilly I love you), Per. Their story will never end.
True love lasts a lifetime––and beyond.
